How to keep your swimwear looking new

To keep your swimwear looking and feeling like new, follow these simple steps after every wear:

1. Rinse Immediately

  • Rinse thoroughly in cool, fresh water right after swimming—whether in a pool, hot tub, or the ocean.
  • This helps remove salt, chlorine, sunscreen, sweat, and body oils before they can damage the fabric.

2. Gentle Handwash

  • Fill a basin with cool water and add a small amount of mild detergent or gentle soap.
  • Gently swirl the swimwear for 1–2 minutes—do not scrub, wring, or twist.
  • Rinse well in cool water until all soap is gone.

3. Avoid Harsh Chemicals

  • Never use bleach or detergents containing chlorine or brightening agents.
  • Avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets, which can break down elastic fibers.

4. Drying

  • Lay flat or hang to dry in the shade—never in direct sunlight, which can fade colors.
  • Do not tumble-dry, iron, or wring out your swimwear, as heat and agitation damage elasticity.

5. Storage

  • Store your suit completely dry in a breathable space.
  • Avoid plastic bags or sealed containers that trap moisture and encourage mildew.

6. Prevent Surface Damage

  • Always sit on a clean towel or smooth surface—rough edges (e.g., pool decks, rocks) can snag and pull threads.
  • Be mindful of jewelry, zippers, or Velcro that can catch delicate swim fabrics.

7. Hot Tubs & High Temperatures

  • Prolonged exposure to hot water or heavily chlorinated spas accelerates color fading and fiber breakdown.
  • If you do use a hot tub, rinse and handwash your suit immediately afterward.

8. Rotate & Rest

  • Give each suit at least 24 hours to fully dry and “rest” between wears.
  • Rotating among two or more suits extends the life of each piece

Final Tip: Store your swimwear flat or folded—never scrunched up—to preserve its shape and prevent creases. With these care steps, your swimwear will maintain its fit, color, and stretch for many seasons to come!
